Trekking in McLeod Ganj

Hell yeah, I am back from a weeklong vacation doing nothing but trekking in the hills around McLeod Ganj in Himachal Pradesh and I’ve never felt so alive. If I have to describe how amazing this place is, I won’t be doing justice so I’ll let my pictures do the talking.

Way to Bhagsunag Falls

Bhagsunag Falls is just 10 minutes from McLeod Ganj Market

Bhagsunag Falls: Some hippies told me that if I hike twenty minutes more from the fall, there is a cafe called the Shiva Cafe where you will get kick ass herb. Unfortunately i don't do the herb. Thought some of you might wanna know.

Way to Triund, located around seven kilometers from McLeod Ganj.

The trekking trail to Triund. From Triund one can see the first peaks of the Himalayas.

Fellow trekkers up to Triund giving way to Goats.

The way up to Triund.

This place is located around 90 minutes before Triund. There is a stall here and its suppose to be a tea stall but you will find possibly everything, from tea and biscuit to soft drinks, beer, rum, vodka, sunscreen and so on.

Half an hour before Triund.

Finally Triund after three hours of trekking.

Triund: The view, the fresh air and the serenity was worth the trek. A joint and some Pink Floyd would make the whole experience even more memorable.

The view from my hotel balcony. The hotel was freaking cheap. Just Rs. 550 for a night with hot shower.

What did I learn from this Trip:

  • Never Drink the beer and vodka which you've brought to celebrate at the top of the peak before reaching the peak. It will mess up your body.
  • Drink the local wine. Its just Rs 200 for a bottle and it is strong enough to keep two guys buzzing.

  1. It really looks gorgeous! I wouldn't bring music nor booze, though. Just the sound of nothing (except the cattle ;P), some nice sandwiches and the lovely views are enough when you want to relax and meditate.

    1. yeah, it was a surprise to see those tea stalls and the best part is the prices are also very reasonable compared to the trouble and hardwork they had to do to get those stuff up!
